320GB, 500GB, 640GB, 750GB and 1TB drives are available, all 3.5-inch 7,200rpm, and it comes with an infra-red remote. I'd really love to get some new features onto the Dan-Elec - anyone got any insights into compatible firmwares for this device?Ĭonnections include two USB 2.0 host ports, one USB 2.0 port for hooking up the So Speaky PVR as an external hard-drive, one 10/100 ethernet port, A/V outputs, component outputs, HDMI, optical digital audio and a 5-in-1 memory card reader. So I'm assuming either the board version won't take the firmware or Dan-Elec built in some other logic into the upgrade process. The Dan-Elec firmware appears to be an unpacked install.img - there is an install_a, video_firmware.bin etc. I thought I might have some luck with the Mvix Ultio Pro firmware, as the form-factor, front and rear panels and features are virtually identical to the Dan-Elec. The DaneDigital So Speaky PVR is a network-connected hard. If you're looking for an alternative to the Archos TV+ or the AppleTV, Dane-Elec may have the option. The Dane-Elec firmware is very poor by comparison - and refuses to play quite a few avi formats, so I was hoping to upgrade. I also have a Cyclone MKV V1, which I recently upgraded with Mvix Ultio firmware as I was experiencing playback problems with the original Sumvision firmware. I have a Dane-Elec So Speaky PVR - which is based on noontec GV-3712 board.
